Epic Halloween

Another foggy Halloween night, pitch black save for a few freshly carved  jack-o’-lanterns perched on the river’s edge, their flickering light casting ghoulish shadows on the nearby trees. A breeze moaned through the leaves, sending a pleasant chill down Sharon’s spine.   

A cackle pierced the air as old Mrs. Smitch magically appeared through the gloom riding her broomstick. She swooped low, nearly crashing into Sharon. At her side, Sharon’s black cat, Midnight, bristled and hissed at the intrusion.

A pumpkin splashed into the water. Midnight meowed. Mrs. Smitch cackled. A wolf howled. Sharon smiled. Tonight was going to be epic.
