Unhackable

It’s the latest in technology; convenient, safe, and unhackable, they said.
I got one embedded in my hand, between my thumb and index finger. A microchip smaller than a grain of rice, replacing ID cards, credit cards, keys, transit passes, and everything else I use in today’s digital world.
It was so small I soon forgot it was there. A wave of my hand unlocked doors, bought groceries, and paid my bus fare. Convenient, safe, and unhackable, they said.
But that’s not true. Because I’m looking at a stump spurting blood where my hand used to be. I’ve been hacked.
