The Right Choice Left

The air was crisp and cold in the wooded wilderness of Wisconsin, a portend of winter soon to come. Down the narrow path, the boy of 10 years, lost and alone, came to a fork, with no sign or hint to show the way home.
“Make the right choice,” Momma always said, and so he did. An hour walking the trail brought him back to the same juncture, leaving one remaining choice—which he took without delay—and soon he was safely home. There, he pondered Momma’s advice and realized that sometimes, the right choice is not what’s right but what’s left.
