The camel heard the talk, but didn’t give it much weight. Something about a straw breaking a camel’s back. Silly humans. And they said camels were dumb.
His owner loaded him with bundles, piling one on another, until he could scarcely bear more. The man began to cinch the rope, but paused when he spied a straw on the ground. He stooped to pick it up.
The camel eyed his owner warily. The man reached high to tuck the straw into one of the bundles.
Not today!
The camel bolted into the desert, shaking loose the bundles in his wake.
