Mom’s Lament

In the living room, the TV blares a bouncy kids’ tune that dissolves into a symphony of chaos—her two young sons shrieking as they toss toys and tussle, her hungry, over-stimulated toddler daughter wailing to high heaven.
In the kitchen, Mom fries bacon, eggs, and potatoes, and desperately tries to tune out the bedlam to no avail. Her eyes droop and shoulders sag under the weight of exhaustion, and she longs for a quiet moment amid the relentless storm of household mayhem.
With a weary sigh, she looks upward and laments, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
