Right Choice Left

The air was crisp and cold in the Wisconsin woods, a hint of winter to come. On the narrow path, the young boy, lost and alone, came to a fork, with no sign showing the way home.
“Make the right choice,” Momma always said, and he did. After walking a half hour, he froze when the trail returned to the fork, leaving one choice. He took the other path and was soon home, where his mother smothered him with hugs and kisses.
As she held him, he realized that sometimes, the right choice is not what’s right but what’s left.
