A Turn of Luck

As I signal to turn left, the Chevy pickup truck behind me speeds past on the right shoulder, horn blaring. The driver throws a middle-finger salute out the window and yells something like “Luck you!” Maybe he thinks I’m driving too slow, but I’m going a steady 37 in a 35 mpg zone, so what’s the problem?
The pickup accelerates ahead; an oncoming car suddenly whips around behind him, red and blue lights flashing, siren wailing. I make my turn and smirk. Maybe there is justice in the world after all. And today, maybe I’m lucky enough to see it.
