Today, I feel less alive than yesterday,
And yesterday, less than the day before.
Fading, vanishing, dissolving,
Unseen, unheard, unwanted.
Someday soon,
When I draw my last breath
My heart beats no more,
And midnight claims my soul,
Who will remember me?
And who will know I was ever here?
My thoughts drift as I ponder this life,
What is, what was, what could have been.
It was not the life I dreamed of,
Planned for, or wanted.
But in the twilight of my years,
I will bravely face my fate,
Silent, alone, and forgotten,
As I slowly fade away.
