I\u2019m being watched. I feel eyes on me, studying my every move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I look around my little apartment, searching for a bug, a hidden camera, a microphone. Anything. I find nothing. Am I going crazy?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say computers spy on us. Phones. Televisions. Maybe even toasters and refrigerators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I examine every device, one by one. The phone. TV. Laptop. Music player. Bluetooth speaker. Every appliance in the kitchen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I plop down on the living room recliner and breathe a sigh of relief. I’m imagining things. Maybe I\u2019m getting a little paranoid in my old age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My skin crawls. My pulse quickens. I\u2019m still being watched. I can feel it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the corner of my eye, I catch a flicker of movement in the farthest reach of the room. So slight I nearly missed it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I move closer. There’s a small black speck I didn’t notice before. Has it been there all along? What is it? A miniature camera? A tiny microphone?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Closer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s a bug. I\u2019m not going crazy after all. I am being watched. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
By a spider!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Too late\u2014sticky silk wraps around me, a gossamer cocoon of death. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I thrash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The web tightens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I hate being a housefly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
